A number of European countries display non-awareness in regard to some issues and sometimes take the preconceived position, the head of the foreign relations department under the Azerbaijan presidents executive office Siyavush Mammadov has said in a statement to journalists today, commenting on the decision of the European Parliament to recognize the alleged destruction of the Armenian cemeteries in Djulfa region, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Trend reports.

He supposes the European Parliament officials are to study the region better. As, according to Mammadov, over 1000 historical and cultural monuments of Azerbaijan which had been entered into the UNESCO list are currently on the occupied by Armenians territories, completely destroyed and razed to the ground.

He voiced his discontent that Europe takes a biased position in regard to some issues, starting with publishing of the prophet Muhammad cartoons up to the Armenian cemeteries in Djulfa. В"If the West does not take the right position in global processes it will lead to its tragedy, Mammadov underlined. He also noted it is important to manifest its position only by fair and just decisions.
