Ministers of OEC countries to gather in Baku

On May 4 in Baku will take place the session of Foreign Ministers of member-countries of Organization for Economic Cooperation (OEC), Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Exterior of Azerbaijan.

At the moment the preparation works are conducted. The main issue of the session is the OEC summit to be held in Baku May 5.

OEC was established in 1985 and it is the legal successor of Regional Cooperation Organization for Development that had acted based on Izmir agreement signed on March 12, 1977 by three founders Turkey, Iran and Pakistan. In 1992 Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan joined the association.

The main goal of OEC is creation of conditions for continuous and through social-economic development in participating countries, such as sequential integration of their economy with the global economic system, promotion of active regional cooperation and mutual assistance in cultural, technical and scientific spheres.
