A mission of the members of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan Parliament), members of the Group of Interparliamentary Friendship Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan has arrived to Astana, Latif Ganfilov, Azerbaijan Ambassador to Kazakhstan told Trend Correspondent to Kazakhstan.
This is the first visit of our MPs to Kazakhstan, said Mr. Ambassador. We have intense relations between our countries at Presidential levels as well. However we have not had relations at a parliament level. That is a shortcoming which should be eliminated. Now a new page in our relations is being opened. The development of people diplomacy between our parliamentarians", said Mr. Ambassador.
MP Farhad Galibov, Head of the Group, said that a meeting with Serik Abdrakhmanov, Chairman of the International Committee of the Kazakhstan's Parliament had been held. During the meeting, opinion exchange concerning the parliamentary relations was held. The Azerbaijani MPs also met Sergey Dyachenko, Vice-Speaker of the Majilis (Kazakhstan Parliament). The Head of the Azerbaijani delegation said that he had invited his Kazakhstan colleagues to pay a return visit to Azerbaijan at their convenience. According to Galibov, the MPs will also meet the leadership of the Kazakhstan Energy Ministry, KazMunayGaz, Stable development Fund Kazina, Kazakhstan Assembly of Peoples, Ecology Ministry of this Country.
The Azerbaijani Ambassador also added that for the recent years, an active dialogue between the tow countries are at high level. He said that Azerbaijan Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev was expected to arrive in Astana to participate in the Kazakhstan-Azerbaijani business-forum at the next week.
