Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Agayeva / William Tall, UNHCR Representative in Azerbaijan, said that the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is prepared to assist the Azerbaijani Government and render humanitarian aid to refugees and Internally Displaced People (IDP) in the post-conflict period.

The State Committee on Refugees and IDPs is currently working on a special program, which will take into consideration all aspects of humanitarian assistance to Azerbaijan in the period after the resolution of the conflict, Tall said. "For its part, the UNHCR welcomes the development of such program and is prepared to render every assistance possible to the Azerbaijan Government regarding this issue," Tall stressed.

The UNHCR has great experience in protecting and assisting refugees in the conflict zones. "I am unwilling to disclose the details ahead of time. But can only state that there are several proposals which are currently being discussed at several ministries and departments. The UNHCR's key task is to support this program and we are prepared to," Tall assured.

Tall said that for the time being, it is too early to speak about figures which were indicated in the program concerning humanitarian aid to be rendered to Azerbaijan in the future, but perhaps, in the future they will figure things out there.
