Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / One man has been detained after a building under construction collapsed in the Narimanov district of Baku.
The Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office reported that criminal proceedings instituted against Yusif Guliyev regarding Article 162.2 (breaking safety or labour protection rules). Guliyev was arrested in accordance with the decision of Narimanov District Court.
The collapse occurred in A. Rajabli street in the Narimanov district of Baku on 1 August at 18:30. As a result of the collapse, Eldar Aliyev died, and labourers Amil Muradov, Shafa Aliyev, and Ali Aliyev were injured and sent to the hospital. The investigation revealed that the entrepreneur, Teymur Shabayev, and builder, Yusif Guliyev signed an agreement on the construction of the building on 10 April.
In compliance with the agreement's terms, Guliyev took responsibility of the building's construction including finding builders, labourers, and specialists. However, Guliyev did not fulfil all responsibilities concerning safety and security.
