Azerbaijan’s State Committee Calls on World Congress of Azerbaijanis to Unify

Azerbaijan, Baku 24 April /corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / The State Committee for Works with Azerbaijanis Residing Abroad has called upon the split World Congress of Azerbaijanis to unify.

"The State Committee does not welcome the splitting of any diaspora organization and therefore calls upon the activists of the WCA to reconcile," said the First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee, Valeh Hajiyev.

CWA was divided into two parts again and its administration made the decision to remove the Chairman Golamrza Sabri Tabrizi from his post and appointed Sabir Rustamkhanli in his place. Tabrizi claims this to be an illegal move stating that he is still the WCA chairman. Sabir Rustamkhanli's supporters plan to hold a meeting on 24-25 May in Keln, a German city and Tabrizi's supporters on 22-23 June in Brussels ( Belgium)

According to official representatives of the State Committee, differences and discontent within any large organization is natural. "WCA brings together people residing in various countries with various views and therefore, problems are expected to emerge in the organization. However, the split parties have similar views on the Statehood of Azerbaijan, national values and the love for Azerbaijan," Hajiyev said.

According to him, the State Committee has always co-operated with the Chairman and the Board in a democratic manner. "We, as a State Committee, have always stated that we are not interested in the political views of the WCA members and internal differences. We co-operate with and support any diaspora organization protecting Azerbaijan's Statehood and national interests in the world," Hajiyev said. In addition, he said that the Chairman of the State Committee, Nazim Ibrahimov, will also give his recommendations to each of sides in WCA. "I consider that the sides will come to a consensus, reconcile to the congress and the WCA will not split," official representative of the State Committee said.
