Azerbaijani Interior Minister meets U.S. ambassador

Interior Minister of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov on Friday met the new U.S. ambassador in Baku, Matthew Bryza, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

Interior Minister of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov on Friday met the new U.S. ambassador in Baku, Matthew Bryza, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

Usubov congratulated the Ambassador and expressed his hope that this appointment will give impetus to cooperation between Azerbaijan and the U.S..

The Minister reminded of the working relationship between the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan and the Interior Ministry. According to him, the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the U.S. especially deepened after the September 11, 2001; combating terrorism and other kinds of transnational organized crime came to the forefront in the relations between Interior Ministry and the embassy.

Usubov noted that the unsettled Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh negatively affects the fight against transnational organized crime throughout the region.

Bryza said that during his career, he will make all efforts to promote cooperation between the two countries, as well as between the U.S. Embassy and the Interior Ministry.
