Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / The Justice Minister of Azerbaijan, Fikrat Mammadov, said on 27 June at a meeting of municipalities that recently, more than 20 laws and more than 500 normative acts have been adopted in Azerbaijan to regulate the activities of the municipalities.
According to the minister, up to now, nearly 120 local and international conferences and courses have been organized for hundreds of municipalities. In the first half of 2007, 1,100 municipality workers passed courses. Mammadov stressed that 300 municipality representatives were made answerable for shortcomings in their work. "The cases of not devising municipality acts increased by 1.5 times and equalled 17,000. Criminal cases have been filed in the Prosecutor General's Office," the Minister said.

"Несмотря на то, что создание Национальной ассоциации муниципалитетов было запланировано на конец 2007 года, работы в этом направлении завершены на год раньше", - отметил Мамедов.
Глава Минюста добавил, что государство уделяет особое внимание развитию муниципалитетов, придает значение их деятельности.
