Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Aghayeva / The Azerbaijani Education Minister, Misir Mardanov, reported to journalists on 16 August that he prohibited school directors from interfering with the introduction of school uniforms.
By the decision of the Azerbaijan Education Ministry, in the 2007-2008 academic year, all secondary schools are expected to wear school uniforms.
According to the Minister, parent associations and parent-teacher organizations will deal with the fulfilment of the order. According to the Ministry, the cost of one set of winter and summer uniforms will cost AZN 15-50. The transformation of the school uniform in Azerbaijan will be held stage-by-stage, the Minister said.
According to him, the State could cover part of the expenditure for children from poor families and the issue will be considered in the future.
