The Council on Agrarian Subsidies of Azerbaijan, following Azerbaijani president's decree dated June 27, 2019, adopted decision on defining the sowing, yield and seed ratios, as well as seed and seedling quotas and planting needs by crops and regions in the field of crop production for 2021, the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry told Trend.

According to the decision, the base amount of seeding rates and subsidies in 2021 will remain at 200 manat ($117.6).

Given the proposals received from farmers, state support for the cultivation of hazelnuts will be extended to the hazelnut orchards of Aghdash, Tovuz, Tartar, Shamakhi and Yardimli districts. In 2019, subsidies for the cultivation of hazelnuts extended only to the orchards of Aghstafa, Balakan, Ismayilli, Zagatala, Khachmaz, Gakh, Gabala, Guba, Oguz, Gusar, Gazakh, Shabran and Shaki districts.

For re-planting of corn, sunflower, soybeans, millet, fodder sorghum, potatoes during the summer months (from June 1 to August 31, 2021), a subsidy of 60 manat ($35.3)/ha will be provided.

One-time planting subsidies will be provided to partially compensate the costs of planting new orchards for 6 types of fruit crops.

"The specified one-time subsidy will amount to 11,000 manat ($6,470)/ ha for lemon orchards, which will be established in 2021, 9,000 manat ($5,290)/ ha for orange and tangerine orchards, 5,000 manat ($2,940)/ ha for pomegranate orchards, 4,900 manat ($2,880)/ ha for olive orchards will be allocated to plant gardens on low-fertile lands, 4,400 manat ($2,590)/ ha to hazelnut orchards located in mountainous and foothill regions," the ministry said.

For intensive, semi-intensive and other orchards, during the first four years of gardening, the subsidy amount will be determined and paid in the amount of 700 manat ($411.7)/ ha and 240 manat ($141.2)/ha in other years.

In 2021, a sowing subsidy of 200 manat (the same amount as in 2020) will be provided to no more than 20 hectares of wheat fields. Subsidies worth 160 manat ($94.1) will be paid for a part of the land exceeding 20 hectares. The amount of the sowing subsidy for growing clover in 2021 is set at 50 manat ($29.4).

Besides, the council's decision has prescribed to use the coefficients (the upper limit of the number of seeds and seedlings of the first and second reproduction sold to farmers per hectare of land used) yields, seed coefficients and amounts of seed subsidies, seed quotas, annual quota for seedlings, sowing requirements in order to calculate the seed subsidy.

The calculation of subsidies in 2021 will be similar to the calculation of 2020.
