By Ilkin Seyfaddini – Trend:

Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan signed an agreement with Turkish Aksa Energy on construction of a combined-cycle power plant with capacity of 240 MW in Tashkent, Trend reports citing the Turkish Daily Sabah News Agency.

According to the investment agreement with National Electricity Grids of Uzbekistan, the Turkish company will also operate the plant and sell electricity to Uzbekistan for 25 years.

The power plant will be built on the territory of Tashkent TPP on terms of public-private partnership.

For the construction, Aksa Energy will also move the necessary equipment from Turkey to Uzbekistan - from the Ali Metin Kazancı power plant in Antalya, where the unused transmission systems remained after the partial cancellation of the license in 2018, the message said.

Construction in Tashkent will begin after the allocation of the site, and commissioning - within a maximum of 12 months after the start of construction.

Upon completion, the power plant is expected to produce two billion kWh of electricity per year.

Aksa Energy was founded in 1997 as a subsidiary of Kazancı Holding, the largest independent electricity producer in Turkey, listed on the stock exchange. It carries out the whole cycle of works: project development, procurement, construction and installation, operation and maintenance.
