Azerbaijani leasing company adds 80 percent to country's investment portfolio

The largest Azerbaijani leasing company Ata Leasing's portfolio hit 3.5 million manat in 2008, the company said on Jan. 27. "The increase for the year was 40 percent," Ata Leasing reported. Last year, the company signed 75 leasing contracts and now has 93 active contracts.

Ata Leasing leased equipment worth 3.7 million manat and added 2.8 million manat to the country's investment portfolio.   As a result of 2008, 91.4 percent of the portfolio was formed via operations in Baku and 8.6 percent via operations in the regions. Ata Leasing's portfolio is divided as follows: 34.4 percent in construction; 17.4 percent in industrial production; 17.3 percent in transport; 11.1 percent in the food industry; 11.1 percent in trade; 1.7 percent in road infrastructure; 4.5 percent in services; 1.9 percent in textiles; 0.8 percent in health; 0.5 percent in public utilities; and 0.3 percent in communication. Ata Leasing's assets hit 3.5 million manat in 2008 - a 40-percent increase from the previous year. Revenue reached 945,670 manat and profit hit 341,270 manat. Net profit amounted to 269,940 manat.

At the end of 2008, the company's ROE was 27 percent; ROA was 7.7 percent. The founders of Ata Leasing are AtaHolding and AtaBank. The company has been operating since 2004. Its authorized capital is one million manat.

On Jan. 27, the official exchange rate is 0.8048 manat to $1.
