Tax violations hit 1,020 in January in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani Tax Ministry conducted monitoring from Jan.5 to Feb.1 and uncovered as many as 1,020 taxpayer violations, a ministry source said on Feb.4.

The ministry reported that 455 taxpayers broke laws on cash payments. Sixty-five taxpayers illegally used foreign currency to make payments. A total of 173 taxpayers were not appropriately registered with the tax authorities, and 204 taxpayers illegally operated in sectors requiring special permission.

During the monitoring, the ministry uncovered 33 taxpayers illegally employing 35 individuals without labor contracts. As many as 28 taxpayers illegally conducted passenger transport services and 49 persons purchased and sold currency in public places without the required licenses.

Thirteen taxpayers illegally sold 432 goods worth 82,090 manat without the appropriate stamps.

The official currency rate was $1 to 0.8071 manat on Feb.4.
