Uzbek President Islam Karimov received Omani Economics Minister, Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council Deputy Chairman Ahmed Bin Abdunabi Makki on March 31.

"Uzbekistan hopes to develop cooperation with Oman," Karimov said at the meeting. "The meeting allows opinions to be exchanged on issues of bilateral relations."

Relations between Uzbekistan and Oman are developing in the spirit of friendship and cooperation, Karimov said. The foreign ministries of both countries regularly hold consultations.

Cooperation with Oman creates perspectives for strengthening relations with other Arab states.

Oman also regards Uzbekistan as a leading Central Asian country.

Uzbekistan and Oman have significant energy potential and experience developing agriculture, the president noted. Both sides are also interested in implementing joint oil-and-gas projects and agricultural research.
