The Azerbaijani State Committee for Land and Cartography continues to work in a joint project with the World Bank, "Registration of real estate" under the appropriate component of the development of aerial photograph and satellite surveys, the state committee said.
"The committee fully completed work on an aerial photograph to develop orthophoto maps with 1:1000 scale areas of Baku and other centers of regions and cities," the committee said.
The aerial photograph is currently continuing to develop orthophoto maps with 1:1500 scale. In addition, the American company "IKONOS" is conducting work to design orthophoto maps of mountainous and border areas with a 1:10000 scale.
In Azerbaijan, according to a presidential decree of 19 May, the government abolished the office of the Azerbaijan State Real Estate Register Service, which was the main beneficiary of a joint project with the World Bank on "Registration of real estate". All power on implementing the project was handed over to the Azerbaijani State Committee on Property Affairs.
In July 2007 the Government of Azerbaijan and the WB signed a credit agreement for the creation of a single cadastre of real estate. The project consists of four components - registration of real estate; management and register of state property; basic cartography and land cadastre; training, policy formulation and project management. The cost of the project is $38.57 million, of where World Bank's loan accounts for $30 million. Credit resources are provided for a period of 20 years with the grace period of five years. Of these, $15 million were allocated to Azerbaijani Committee on Land and Cartography surveying, mapping, orthophoto and issues of land cadastre.
