Azerbaijan will minimize even further industrial accidents in 2010, Labor and Social Protection Minister Fizuli Alakbarov said.
"So far, we have done much to improve working conditions at enterprises with hope to ensure greater security of the labor force at work," he said. "If in 2007, 128 people died as a result of industrial accidents; in 2008 the figure was 72 people, in 2009 it was 69 people and the trend will continue," he said.
Last year, 250 accidents, including 65 cases, occurred in the construction sector compared to 255 and 65 cases respectively in 2008, he said.
As a result of accidents, 69 people have died. About 218 people were injured during production, including 48 people in the construction sector.
