Deputy Minister: Iran creates agricultural products reserves to ensure food safety

Reserves of agricultural products and livestock in Iran in the near future will amount to 1.08 million tons, ILNA agency quotes Iranian Deputy Agriculture Minister Saadatullah Abasi.

"The estimated resources are expected to include 30,000 tons of chicken meat, 50,000 tons of beef, 600,000 tons of corn, 400,000 tons of barley," Abasi said.
According to him, in connection with sanctions against Iran and implementation of governmental subsidy programs, reserves of Iran's agricultural and livestock products are expected to amount to 1.2 million tons.

"The relevant ministries are involved in storage of domestic agricultural and livestock products, and in the case of necessity the products can be imported," Abasi said.

According to him, in recent months, Iran's food market is experiencing shock and suffering from a lack of adequate food products. One of the priorities of the Iranian Government is to ensure food safety.
