Iranian Commerce Minister: Iran, Belarus intend to exchange goods in national currencies

Iran and Belarus intend to make payments on goods turnover in national currencies, Mehdi Ghazanfari, Iranian Commerce Minister was quoted by IRNA News Agency, as saying.

Making payments on goods turnover in a national currency and establishing two Iranian banks in Belarus will enhance bilateral relations.

Previously, Iranian commerce minister called on Belarusian businessmen to expand trade with Iran up to $1 billion at the opening ceremony of the tenth meeting of the joint economic cooperation committee of the two countries.

He said that the visa requirements must be removed and the two countries must look seriously at the quality standards of their products and customs agreements.

He added that Iran will hold an exclusive exhibition in Belarus along with the first specialized committee between the two countries in the next two months.

Iranian minister said that since the beginning of the Iranian calendar year (March 21), Iran-Belarus trade reached $60 million. He added that the forecasts show that this figure will reach $90 million by the end of the year.

Iranian commerce minister cited the upcoming commissioning of a truck production line in Tabriz, investments worth up to $1 billion made by Iranians in technical and engineering projects in Belarus, negotiations held by Iranian investors to modernize agricultural machinery in Belarus, as well as constructing a hospital, a copper factory and other buildings in Belarus, as the projects being implemented by investors.
