The Azerbaijani State Social Protection Fund's priority will be the automation of pension provision in 2012, Chairman Salim Muslimov said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Tuesday.
"The primary task of the Azerbaijani pension-insurance system in 2011 was to bring the provision of pensions to a single system for all pensioners," he said. "The priority will be to automate the provision of pensions in 2012."
He said the main problem in this area was associated with pension rights before 2006.
However, recent reforms have created opportunities to make a transition to new conditions by means of simple calculations, to register pensions in individual accounts and to cover all periods of their employment.
"In parallel with the social insurance premiums paid to about 1.967 million people registered in the individual registration system in 2006-2010, the process of determining the pension capital for length of service accumulated by these persons prior to 2006 was completed," Muslimov said.
