Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan.19 /Trend E.Ismayilov/
The contractors who will carry out the work on the two remaining sites of a four-lane Masalli-Astara highway will be determined in the first half of 2012, a source at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport told Trend on Thursday.
The source noted that a number of companies submitted proposals for the construction operations of the road, but taking into account the possibility of making changes to the project (on the route and distance), a decision must be made to work out the already submitted proposals, or a new tender should be announced.
The work on this road is planned to implement at the expense of Asian Development Bank's credit. Contractors are determined to build sites B and C.
Particularly, according to a source, the Ministry of Transport has submitted all necessary documents to reconsider the project, land acquisition and other details relating to the construction of the road.
"It will be determined until the end of the month if there is a need to declare a new tender or the old proposals will be updated," a source said.
In any case, changes in the project will not require additional funds, as a loan of $200 million, approved by the ADB recently. It includes incidental expenses.
These funds are allocated from the Multitranche Financing Facility (MFF) for Road Network Development Program to the amount of $500 million, approved in August 2007. Some $455.4 million of MFF has already been allocated.
The first tranche of $200 million has been allocated on the construction of the Masalli-Astara road, the second ($55.4 million) on reconstruction of Ganja ring road, and a third ($ 200 million) to continue the construction of Masalli-Astara road.
Azerinsaatservis construction company was chosen to build the first road section (A).
