Domestic production can be boosted in a situation that economic entrepreneurs and manufacturers are able to be active in a competitive atmosphere, the Iranian deputy industry minister said.
Fereidoon Ahmadi told Fars news agency the naming of the current calendar year by the Supreme Leader as the year of supporting domestic production and national assets will draw the attention of all the domestic production units.
The Central Bank of Iran put the gross domestic production (GDP) for the calendar year 1389 (ended on March 20, 2011) at over 539 trillion rials (some $41 billion), up 5.8 percent year on year. The GDP growth rate stood at 3 percent in its preceding year.
