Iranian Bank Mellat eyes 500 million pounds of compensations from UK government due to loss of business caused by international sanctions during 2009 to 2013, Iranian Jahanesanat newspaper reported.

Uk`s government accused Bank Mellat on 2009 in supporting Iranian nuclear program and imposed sanctions against the Bank.

Bank's advocates take the case to the court at that time and UK`s Supreme Court ruled that the government was wrong on imposing sanctions against Iranian bank, and that the action was "illegal" and "irrational," advocate of Bank Mellat Soruosh Zivala said during his interview to Radiofarda.

He went on to note that Supreme Court will send the case to a lower court for assessment of losses.

Bank is also investigating the value of damages during four years of sanction implementation, he said.

Zivala said that 500 million pounds is the minimum figure of losses and Mellat Bank will present assessment of loss to the court.

Later in August, the court is expected to order the UK`s Treasury to pay the Iranian bank compensation, Jahanesanat reported.
