Uzbekistan National Airways to choose fleet insurer

Uzbekistan's National Airways "Ozbekiston Havo Yollari" has announced a tender among the country's insurers for the right to insure its aircraft.

The tender results will reveal the insurer of the Western and Russian made aircraft for the next insurance period.

The insurance period for the Western-made aircraft is from June 15, 2014 to June 14, 2015, while for Russian-made aircraft it is July 12, 2014 to July 11, 2015, the company told Trend.

The tender will be open to insurers that are licensed by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic for aviation and liability insurance.

The bids are accepted until May 23, the results of the contest will be summed up in late May and early June.

Uzbekistan Airways is the monopoly carrier in Uzbekistan and is fully owned by the state. Its fleet currently consists of 31 aircraft of western production, including 13 Boeings (four 767-300, five 757-200 and four 767- 300-ER), 13 Airbuses (three A-310 and 10 - A-320- 200), three medium-range RJ- 85 planes and two Airbus A300-600F cargo planes.

Uzbekistan Airways carries out flights to 21 cities in Europe, America, Middle East, Asia, in 22 cities of CIS countries and 11 internal destinations.

In 2013, Uzbekistan Airways carried out about 24,600 of flights and transported 2.677 million passengers (an increase compared with 2012 by 1.6 percent).

Volume of freight transportations (including baggage transportation) last year totalled 41,000 tonnes against 40,000 tonnes a year earlier.
