Uzbekistan reveals statistics on small enterprises for 1Q2018

Uzbekistan created 13,200 new small enterprises and micro firms in the 1Q2018, which is 3.1 percent less than in the 1Q2017, the Office of Business Environment and Statistics of Business Development of the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said in its report.

According to the information, the largest number of small enterprises and micro firms was created in the industrial sphere (23 percent), trade (23 percent), agriculture, forestry and fishery (13 percent), construction (12 percent), housing and food services (7 percent), transportation and storage (4 percent).

In the 1Q2018, the subjects of small business accounted for:

  • Industrial products worth some 12.8 trillion soums (28.8 percent of the total industrial production), or 102.8 percent to the level of the 1Q 2017;
  • Implemented investments worth 5.36 trillion soums (31.8 percent of the total volume of the republic's investments), or 110.9 percent to the level of the 1Q2017;
  • Completed construction work worth 5.66 trillion soums (61.2 percent of the total volume of construction work), or 104.3 percent to the level of the 1Q2017;
  • Rendered services worth 17.66 trillion soums (55.3 percent of the total volume of services), or 96.5 percent to the level of the 1Q2017;
  • Formed retail trade turnover worth 23.6 trillion soums (87.2 percent of the total volume), or an increase of 0.3 percent;
  • Exported goods and services worth 1.21 billion dollars (29.7 percent of the total export), which is 437.6 million dollars (56.4 percent) more than in the 1Q2017;
  • The freight turnover of motor transport increased by 4.0 percent (76.2 percent of the total volume of goods turnover);
  • The passenger turnover grew by 2.7 percent (94.6 percent of the total volume of passenger turnover);

The city of Tashkent is the leader in terms of industrial output (4.77 trillion soums), retail turnover (4.42 trillion soums) and services (5.13 trillion soums).

In the 1Q2018, the share of small business in the country's GDP was 34.3 percent (39.6 percent in the 1Q2017).

The decrease is caused by the growing share of large enterprises in the GDP structure.
