India to create first agro-cluster in Uzbek Andijan region

Indian state-owned corporation Gujarat Agro Industries Co. Ltd plans to create an agro-cluster in Andijan region, Trend reports via Podrobno.uz.

Agro-cluster will cultivate, produce, process and deliver crops and fish products as well as their marketing. Pilot project will be on a land area of 15000-20000 hectares in the Andijan region.

Gujarat is the leading state in India in the cultivation of cotton, peanuts, tobacco, cane sugar, wheat and various cereals. Moreover, Gujarat is the first in the production of milk and butter, meat, eggs, vegetable oil and sugar.

Within the framework of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to India in September 2018, the implementation of 62 investment agreements with a total cost about $3 billion were reached in the areas of health care, pharmaceuticals, textile and food industries, defense industry, tourism, education, ICT and other.

Uzbekistan signed an agreement with India on long-term uranium supplies, the creation of a techno park of advanced information technologies in Tashkent and a pharmaceutical zone in the Andijan region during this visit.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev suggested organizing a business forum for the regions of Uzbekistan and India while speaking at the Dynamic Gujarat - 2019 international investment summit this year.
