Retail trade in Kazakhstan up by 14%

The volume of retail trade in Kazakhstan reached 10.1 trillion tenge in 2018, which is an increase of 13.8 percent year-on-year (1.2 trillion tenge), Trend reports via Finprom.kz.

This is the highest figure in recent years.

It is noteworthy that more and more buyers in Kazakhstan make purchases online. In the first 8 months of 2018, the volume of e-commerce reached 159.6 billion tenge, or 2.5 percent of the total retail trade.

People mostly buy clothes and shoes, food, movies, music, medicines and household goods through the Internet. The most popular online services are purchase of tickets for entertainment events, travel, telecommunications, financial and insurance services.

It should be noted that at the beginning of this year, there were 23.4 million payment cards in circulation in Kazakhstan (20.5 percent up year-on-year), and the number of holders of such cards reached 19 million (11.6 percent up).
