Iran launches passenger ferry to Qeshm Island

Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development has inaugurated a domestically built passenger ferry to transport 158 visitors in Qeshm Island, said the head of Ports and Maritime Organization in Hormozgan Province Morad Afifpour.

"This passenger ferry has been built in 16 months and we have the capacity to build various types of passenger ferries in the country and there is no need to import ferries from abroad," said Afifpour, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"There is capacity to build passenger ferries in Hormozgan Province. Three passenger ferries have been built in Qeshm Island and have been exported to foreign countries during the current Iranian year (started March 21 , 2019)," he said.

The official emphasized that there are 30 active factories in Hormozgan Province that manufacture different type of ferries.

"Currently 30 ferry manufacturing factories have the capacity to build passenger ferries on a large scale," he indicated.
