Persimmon export volumes from Azerbaijan to CIS countries revealed

In 2019, from mid-September to mid-October, about 400 tons of persimmons were exported from Azerbaijan to Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan and Belarus, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Persimmon Producers and Exporters Association Gadir Yusifov told Trend.

Yusifov noted that a total of 25 railcars were exported to the markets of these countries.

“The biggest volumes of export accounted for Ukraine and Russia, which are constant importers of Azerbaijani agricultural products,” the chairman said.

Yusifov added that the majority of the grown products is exported and only ten percent of the produced persimmons are sold in Azerbaijan, meeting domestic demand.

“Over the nine months of 2019, 150,000 tons of persimmons were produced in Azerbaijan,” the chairman noted. “It is expected that by the end of 2019, this figure will exceed 200,000 tons.”

The Persimmon Producers and Exporters Association was established in August 2017 on the initiative of entrepreneurs and with the support of Azerbaijan’s Economy Ministry.
