Bushehr province is rich in terms of reserves of bauxite, which is a mineral required in aluminum industry, director general of the Geological Survey of the southern region of Iran said.

“Due to the lack of aluminum in the country, a factory is to be built in the south of Fars province and minerals will be provided from other provinces,” Tahmoures Yousefi said at a meeting on Dec.1, Trend reports citing IRNA.

“Due to the presence of bauxite reserves in Bushehr province, the necessary studies should be carried out and its amount should be determined to take steps in supplying raw materials to the aluminum factory in Fars province,” the director general added.

“Bushehr province has a high and significant reserve of the building materials as well,” Yousefi noted adding that the strategic location of Bushehr province is its biggest advantage, as in the mining sector, the distance determine the mining rate.

“Bushehr's position for exporting minerals is also significant,” Yousefi said.
