Review of producer price indices for services in Georgia

The producer Price Index for Transportation and Storage Services increased by 1.2 percent in September 2020 compared to the previous month in Georgia, Trend reports referring to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The prices were 1.2 percent higher for land transport services and transport services via pipelines.

Moreover, the prices for air transport services increased by 1.3 percent, while for warehousing and support services for transportation by 3.7 percent.

Compared to September 2019 the overall index fell by 5.5 percent. Within the group, a noteworthy price decrease was registered for air transport services (-45 percent). Along with this, the prices increased for land transport services and transport services via pipelines by 3.6 percent and also, for warehousing and support services for transportation by 3.1 percent.

The producer Price Index for Telecommunication Services was unchanged compared to the previous month.

The overall index increased by 16 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Within the group, a noteworthy price increase was registered for wireless telecommunications services (34.7 percent). Furthermore, the prices for wired telecommunications services declined by 1.4 percent.

The producer Price Index for Accommodation and Food Services increased by 0.3 percent compared to the previous month. The prices rose for food and beverage serving services by 2.1 percent. In the same period, the prices for accommodation services fell by 3.9 percent.

The overall index increased by 2.8 percent compared to September 2019. The prices increased for food and beverage serving services by 4 percent, while the prices for accommodation services declined by 0.3 percent.
