Turkmenistan approves volume of special agricultural land fund for joint-stock companies

Turkmenistan has approved the volume of a special agricultural land fund for joint-stock companies, agricultural enterprises and others, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

The relevant decree was signed by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

According to the decree, land plots from the above-mentioned land fund will be transferred to producers for a period of 99 years.

Land is transferred with the condition of cultivation on a contract basis of wheat, cotton and other plants included in the state order, and the rest - outside the state order - crops for conducting a scientifically based crop rotation.

In addition, producers who have received land plots must introduce them to crop rotation, by conducting appropriate work within three years.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental protection of Turkmenistan, together with the municipal administration of the regions, is required to draw up acts on the provision of land plots, as well as to monitor the rational and targeted use of the issued land.

Surplus products from the established plan for the manufactured of crops included in the state order, producers can at their discretion leave at their disposal or hand over to the state at the state purchase price.

The state provides targeted support for the development of the agricultural sector in the country. In particular, the entire production infrastructure of the agro-industrial sector is being re-equipped and modernized, the chemical industry is developing, and modern tractors, combines, and other equipment are being purchased.

Reportedly, agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable, and fruits.
