BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23
By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
The annual production of blueberries at a state-supported enterprise Agrolein LLC in the Georgian village Vartsikhe in the Baghdati Municipality, has reached 300 tons, Trend reports via the Rural Development Agency of Georgia.
The products of Agrolein LLC are sold both in the local market and abroad. The processing plant employs 28 local residents during the season.
Agrolein has its own blueberry orchards on an area of six hectares. At the same time, the company actively cooperates with farmers who also have blueberry plantations in the Imereti region. As a result, it provides quick cooling, sorting, packaging and sale of crops harvested from orchards planted on 40 hectares.
This year, the company, with the support of preferential agricultural lending, purchased a tractor and units required for various agricultural operations. The amount of the soft loan was 105,000 lari (approximately $33,300).
In total, more than 2 million lari ($632,000) were invested in the enterprise, of which 419,397 lari ($132,700) was a grant, and 522,495 lari ($165,300) was a preferential agricultural loan.
With the support of the state program, the Agrolein blueberry garden is in the process of introducing the GlobalG.A.P. agricultural product standard.
The export of blueberries from Georgia in 2020 amounted to more than $3 million.
