Iran eyes to increase export to Caucasus region

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct. 4

Iran Ministry of Industry Mine and Trade plans to increase trade with Caucasus countries in the future, said Head of the Non-Oil Export Promotion Committee of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA), Trend reports citing ILNA.

Iran has the capacity to increase its share of export to the Caucasus region from the current 3 percent to 20 percent, Jamshid Nafar noted.

Preferential trade agreements between Iran and Caucasusian countries would accelerate the trade and export of goods.

Iran requires to boost necessary infrastructure especially in the logistic sector, he indicated.

The preferential trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran on mutual trade entered into force in October 2019.

A total of 862 types of commodities have been listed in the three-year provisional trade agreement.
