Banks' cumulative capital up 26.9% over quarter

By figures presented by National Bank of Azerbaijan, cumulative capital of Azerbaijans acting banks rose by 26.9% and amounted AZN 276.4mln as of April 1, 2006, NBA officials told Trend. Such a growth was stipulated with increase of charter funds in both private and governmental banks. This process started in December 2005. Charter capitals of state banks rose 42% during the year, amounting AZN 42mln. Charter capitals in private banks rose by 10.4% and amounted AZN 234.3 as of April 1. Such a dynamics is conditioned with new NBAs requirement on minimal charter capital in amount of AZN 6.4mln a of July 1, 2006. Today average charter capital per bank is AZN 6.3mln.

Fraction of banks with 100% Azeri charter capital is AZN 23.2mln with annual growth 0.9%. Fraction of banks with foreign capital in total capital of all banks rose to 35.7% as of April 1, 2006. Foreign investments in Azerbaijans banks amount AZN 49.3mln. Their fraction in total charter capital is 17.8%.
