As of October 1, the harvest of the green leaves has been carried out in volume of 602 tons, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan. The products for each hectare equaled to 2,1 centners. The tea picking decreased by 100 tons as comprised with the same period of 2005.
This year the seeding area of the green tea in the country equals 2,900 ha. The volume of the tea production for 2006 forecasted by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture is more than 1,000 tons.
In Azerbaijan, the tea is grown in the regions of Lankaran, Astara, Masalli, Zakatala and Lerik.
