Increase in Transit Tariffs in Azerbaijani Railways Not Planned

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The Azerbaijani Deputy Transport Minister, Musa Panahov, stated on 4 April that the Tariff Council of Azerbaijan is considering proposals on tariffs for railway deliveries. Transit tariffs will be hardly increased, while reconsideration of export tariffs will depend on the decision by the Tariff Council.

Following increase in diesel fuel and mazut prices in January 2006 the Railway Department came out with a proposal on increase of railway transit tariffs, whilst it was rejected by the Tariff Council.

Following next increase of prices on 8 January 2007, the issue has become actual anew for the Azerbaijan State Railway. At the resolution of the Council, price of А-95 petrol was increased to 60 gepiks, А-92 and А-80 to 55 gepiks, diesel fuel to 45 gepiks. Cost of electricity is 6 gepiks per 1 KW/h.
