Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Babayeva / The practical scientific conference of Azerbaijani metallurgists under the organization of the Baku Steel Company (BSC) scheduled for the second half of July has been cancelled, the Vice President of the company, Ali Askari, reported on 27 June.
According to Askari, the organization of such a conference is considered to be inexpedient due to difficulties in the operation of the BSC caused by lack of raw materials. The Vice President did not rule out that instead of a large conference a meeting will be organized and attended by scientific-educative establishments, private companies and scientific-research organizations.
The first conference of that type was held by the Baku Steel Company in July 2005. It was attended by representatives of institutes of higher education and the National Academy of Sciences.
The Baku Steel Company is the largest metallurgy enterprise in Azerbaijan. The production capacity of the enterprise is 350,000 tons per year.
