SOCAR to Open New 30 New Filling Stations in Georgia

Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 September/ Trend / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to put into operation nearly 30 new filling station under SOCAR brand in Georgia in 2009, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said in his interview with the official media.

At present, SOCAR runs over 15 filling stations in Georgia through its subsidiary SOCAR Georgia. Several more filling stations are expected to become operational by the end of the year. 

Opening new filling stations will enable SOCAR Energy Georgia to step up the volume of the Azerbaijani fuel supply to Georgia to 150,000 litres a day (currently 100,000 litres).

SOCAR plans to supply 350,000 tons of oil products to Georgian market in 2008. The volume of supply totaled to 180,000 tons of various kinds of oil products for the first half of 2008. Nearly 200,000 tons of oil products were supplied to Georgia in whole of 2007.

Co-founders of SOCAR Georgia are SOCAR - 51%, Petro-Trans FZCO - 32.7% and Ivan Chkartishvili - 16.3%.
