Roughly four-million tons of the Tengiz oil was transported through Georgia in 2010, at the Batumi and Kulevi ports on the Black Sea, said Abay Turkpenbayev, head of the companies "Baku oil terminal," Batumi Sea Port "and Petrotrans limited, in an interview with Trend.
Tengiz oil is now transported through the Batumi and Kulevi with a proportional allocation of 50/50. Each terminal transported two-million tons of the Tengiz oil in 2010, Turkpenbayev said.
Tengiz oil is transported from the Aktau port through the terminals KazTransOil and Terminaliks to the Sangachal terminal in Baku. Then the loads are transported by rail to the Black Sea, and from Kulevi and Batumi to the world markets.
"This year's Tengiz oil will also cover this route. However, the volume of loads are always lower in winter due to storms at sea," Turkpenbayev said.
