By late 2012, the Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources of the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Ministry plans to complete preparation of a program for the development of alternative energy sources in Azerbaijan until 2020, the agency's deputy chairman Jamil Melikov said on Friday.
He said work on the preparation of the program will be conducted in phases and include short, medium and long term scenarios of the development of alternative and renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan.
At present, a tender procedure is underway to select contractors, who will develop separate directions of the development of alternative energy sources, which will be later included in the program, Melikov said.
He said that four contractors have been already selected, with two of whom contracts have been already signed. Also two other contractors are expected to be selected.
The program will cover all directions of the development of alternative and renewable energy sources, particularly the regeneration of wind, solar energy, construction of small hydropower plants and other directions.
