U.S company will build wind farm in Turkey

The U.S company General Electric (GE) will build a wind farm in Turkey, the Turkish newspaper Sabah reported on Friday.

According to the newspaper, the required amount of investments for the wind farm's construction exceeds $5 billion.

According to the newspaper, the capacity of the wind farm will hit 3,000 megawatts.

Earlier, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said that it is necessary to increase investments in the Turkish power sector by the end of 2013 in order to acheives further growth and solve the existing problems in this area.

According to him, Turkey produced 240 billion kilowatt / hours of electricity in 2012, while the country imported 5.83 billion kilowatt / hours.

The minister also stressed that Turkey exported 2.95 billion kilowatt / hours of electricity in 2012.
