A new gas-lift compressor station in the shallow part of the Guneshli field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea reached a full capacity of three million cubic meters per day, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) said August 19.

The station was put into operation in early 2015 but it is reaching full capacity now.

"The start-up work has been completed at the station," a statement said. "The compressor units were tested in high-performance mode, pressure and number of revolutions."

Three compressor units are constantly in the gas-lift operation. They provide the station with three million cubic meters of compressed gas every day.

"The station will provide all wells in the field, operated by a gas lift method, with compressed gas," a statement said.

The station has been installed at a depth of 87 meters. The station construction began in 2009 under the order of SOCAR's Azneft Production Association.

Guneshli field plays an important role in the oil and gas industry of Azerbaijan. A shallow part of the field is being developed by SOCAR independently, but a deep part - as part of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block (together with foreign partners).

SOCAR includes Azneft production association (company producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), Azkimya production association (chemical industry) and Azerigaz production association (gas distribution).

Moreover, SOCAR includes a number of processing enterprises, service enterprises and institutions engaged in geophysical and drilling operations.
