Turkmenistan planning to expand electricity export

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a government meeting drew attention to the importance of increasing volumes of electricity exports both on operating and new routes, the Watan newspaper reported Jan. 13.

The construction of a new combined power plant in Mary province was discussed at the meeting as well.

The project is being implemented on the territory of the Mary Power Plant. The total capacity of the new power plant, where four gas turbines and two steam turbines will be installed, will be 1,574 MW. At the current stage, commissioning work is underway at the site.

Focusing on the issues of introducing additional generating capacities of power industry, the Turkmen president instructed to continue work in this direction.

It was previously reported that Turkey’s Calik Enerji company plans to complete construction of combined steam-gas power plant with participation of Us company General Electric in Mary province of Turkmenistan in Dec. 2018.
