Spanish companies have shown interest in the implementation of renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain told Trend.
“We already have some pilot projects in solar and wind generation. Energy ,transport ,infrastructures and telecommunications are interesting sectors for Spanish investments. Other sectors of interest are construction and building materials, architecture and urban planning, the renovation of power plants and the medical-hospital sector investments made in the construction and real estate development sector.
The know how of Spanish companies matches the needs of the Azerbaijani economy, we are confident these synergies will stay in time and that our companies will continue to contribute to the growth of Azerbaijan,” said the ministry.
Azerbaijan exported over 1 million tons of crude oil to Spain in 2020, which is 32 percent less compared to 2019, according to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.
During the past year, 28.4 million tons of oil (together with condensate) were exported from Azerbaijan. Compared to 2019, the volume of oil exports (together with condensate) decreased by 2.9 million tons or 9.2 percent. Spain’s share in exports from Azerbaijan amounted to 3.5 percent.
The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Spain in 2020 amounted to $427.3 million. Exports from Azerbaijan to Spain amounted to $329.7 million, imports – over $98 million.
