Azerbaijan is one of Ukraine's strategic partners in the energy sector, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine told Trend.
Еhe ministry noted the main areas of cooperation between the countries in the field of energy:
- supplies of Azerbaijani oil to Ukrainian refineries.
- organization of deliveries of light Azerbaijani oil through the southern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, as well as to Belarus.
- implementation of the Euro-Asian Oil Transport Corridor (EAOTC) project within the framework of the Sarmatia International Pipeline Company to create a new route for transporting oil from the Caspian region to the EU markets by pipeline.
- cooperation in the field of energy construction.
As reported, the export from Azerbaijan to Ukraine amounted to $117.9 million from January through February 2021, which is 34.1 percent more compared to the period from January through February 2020.
Thus, the share of Ukraine in total Azerbaijani export increased from 2.71 percent to 4.23 percent.
At the same time, the import of Ukrainian products to Azerbaijan for the year decreased from $60.7 million to $60.5 million (by 0.3 percent).
The share of Ukraine in total Azerbaijani import from January through February 2021 amounted to 3.76 percent compared to 3.4 percent in the same period of last year.
The volume of foreign trade operations between the two countries from January through February 2021 reached $178.5 million, which is 20 percent more compared to the period from January through February 2020.
