SOCAR May Participate in Offshore Oil and Gas Projects Abroad

During the fourth meeting of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan Intergovernmental Economic Co-operation Commission in Islamabad this week, the sides reached an agreement on establishment of the joint projects with regards to the oil and gas, agriculture and light industry, Trend reports.

It is not excluded that the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will participate in the oil and gas operations in the territory of Pakistan, especially in the offshore shelf. The sides reached an agreement on exchanging the experience regarding oil and gas pipes. The Pakistan side hopes to import oil and gas products, especially liquefied gas and cotton from Azerbaijan.

The meeting was presided by the First Vice Primer of the Government of Azerbaijan, Yagub Eyyubov and Minister of Oil and Natural Resources of Pakistan, Amanulla Khan Jadun.

In addition, consultations were held during the meeting with regards to the information technologies, especially decrease of the tariffs for the international telephone conversations. Debates were organized in the spheres such as agriculture, and banking sector. The Pakistan side offered to organize courses to improve qualifying the banking sector employees.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold the next meeting of the Commission in 2009 in Baku.
