SOCAR to Construct New Underwater Gas Pipeline

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend /The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is beginning construction of a new underwater gas pipeline.

The new pipeline, with a length of 66.5km, a diameter of 508mm, and a total capacity of 5-5.5mln cu m of gas per 24 hours will be laid by the end of 2007, linking the Oil Rocks and Bahar fields.

Gas from the Guneshli field will be transported via the pipeline to the shore. In compliance with SOCAR's program to increase gas production in the Guneshli field in 2008, gas production in 2007 will exceeded the production of 2006 by two times. New pipelines are required for transportation of the gas. The constructed pipeline will be the third.

Construction of the pipeline will be implemented from the depth of 10-12m up to 30m by the Oil and Gas Construction trust of SOCAR. The pipes will be encased in concrete at EUPEC enterprise in July-August.
