Kazakh banks' loan portfolio increases

The banking sector actively supports Kazakhstan’s economy with credit injections: the loan portfolio of second-tier banks of the country amounted to 13.8 trillion tenge in 2018, which is 2.2 percent up in a month, while the annual growth is 1.3 percent, Trend reports via Ranking.kz.

ForteBank is the absolute leader among the country's banks in the growth of lending in December 2018. The monthly growth of the loan portfolio amounted to 14.3 percent, up to 728.8 billion tenge.

The Top-3 also includes Bank CenterCredit (5 percent up) and Home Credit Bank (4.4 percent up).

The monthly growth leader, ForteBank, also showed excellent annual dynamics: the growth of the bank's loan portfolio amounted to 25.3 percent for the year.

It should be noted that ForteBank not only increases the volume of its loan portfolio, but also improves its quality. Thus, the volume of safe overdue loans of the bank amounted to 10.7 percent of the total volume of loans against 12 percent a year earlier. ForteBank's priority areas of work are both retail lending to the population and products for business.

Bank CenterCredit, which is also a leader in the monthly growth of the loan portfolio, increased it by 17.7 percent for the year. At the same time, the share of overdue loans amounted to 19.1 percent of the bank's loan portfolio against 16.7 percent a year earlier.

The volume of loans issued by Home Credit Bank increased by 46.8 percent in a year. Overdue loans in the portfolio make up only 7.2 percent against 7.7 percent a year earlier.
