Kazakhstan's monetary base increases month-on-month

The value of Kazakhstan’s monetary base amounted to 8.4 trillion tenge ($20.4 billion) in Jun. 2020, which is 22.3 percent more than at the beginning of the year, Trend reports with reference to the data of Kazakhstan’s National Bank.

Value of Kazakhstan’s monetary base has also increased by 2.1 percent compared to May 2020.

“The narrow reserve money equaled 5.03 trillion tenge ($12.2 billion), which is 7.3 percent less than in beginning of the year. The narrow reserve money has decreased by 3.3 percent compared to May 2020,” the report said.

“In turn, the value of currency in circulation stood at 2.7 trillion tenge ($6.7 billion), which is 21 percent more compared to the value as of the beginning of the year, and 0.6 percent more than in May 2020,” the statement said.

M1 money aggregate increased by 12 percent since the beginning of the year and amounted to 6.6 trillion tenge ($16.09 billion), whereas M2 money aggregate increased by 7.2 percent and equaled 17.2 trillion tenge ($41.7 billion).

“The broad money value amounted to 22.6 trillion tenge ($54.9 billion), which is 6.2 percent more than in the beginning of the year. Broad money value has also increased by 1 percent compared to May 2020,” the report said.

The gross international reserves of Kazakhstan’s National Bank amounted to $32.8 billion in Jun. 2020, bank’s preliminary data said.

According to the data, the value of country’s international reserves increased by 4.1 percent compared to last month and by 13.5 percent more than as of the end of 2019.

“International reserves overall, i.e. including the foreign currency denominated assets of the National Fund ($57.7 billion) equaled $90.5 billion as at the end of Jun. 2020,” the report said.
