Uzbekistan reveals banks with largest number of remotely served customers

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar. 17

By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

The total number of individuals using remote banking services as of March 1, 2021, amounted to 14.8 million, while among legal entities this figure reached 844,581, Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan (CBU).

According to the statistics on the use of remote banking services by individuals, legal entities, and individual entrepreneurs as of March 1, 2021, published by the CBU, the vast majority of remote service customers are individuals. However, it is noted that this does not necessarily indicate the popularity of services, since the number of individuals, in general, exceeds the number of organizations.

The CBU noted that the statistics collect data on 31 banks in Uzbekistan. The only bank not included in the statistics was Anor Bank.

Thus, Agrobank and Halyk Bank (People’s Bank) became the leaders in terms of the number of clients of remote services among individuals by a large margin, with the number of clients amounting to 2,421,695 and 2,337,508, respectively. They are followed by Uzpromstroybank with 1,875,494 clients.

It was noted that the coverage of remote services in 26 banks out of 31 banks does not reach one million people.

At the same time, the largest number of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs using remote banking services are clients of Ipoteka Bank and Agrobank. These two banks account for 118,867 and 116,871 corporate clients, respectively.
